My name is Lucas Olson. I am 21 years old and live in the Clearwater valley in Idaho. I am the oldest of four children. Our family is as follows: Dad, Mom, Myself, Micah, Rebekah, and Hannah.

I started making knives when I was twelve and taught myself over a period of eight years to forge blades, polish, and build handles. I continually aspire to build the best that I can and perform rigorous testing on certain test blades from time to time to check for flaws in my work. I find inspiration for my bladed creations from sources such as historical pieces, Blade Magazine, movie knives, and my imagination.
I begin with a paper drawing and take it to the final buffing. I build both the blade and handle. I try to keep my ideas on file in case I need to recreate a knife.

I enjoy "roughing it" in the wilderness areas around where we live.
I have trekked across various kinds of terrain in many kinds of weather. I even have a few stories which are a lot more fun to talk about than they were to experience!

I also like to read good books.  A few favorites are my Bible, the G.A. Henty books, the Chronicles of Narnia, Jungle Pilot, On the Back of the Stallion by Robert Green, all of J.R.R. Tolkien's and C.S. Lewis' literature, Beowulf, Rolf and the Viking Bow, Wild at Heart, and just about any poetry. (A favorite collection is, "The Best Loved Poems of the American People".)

I play the penny whistle, harmonica, and piano. I like to listen to classical music and traditional Celtic songs as well as early American folk music.

My brother Micah (my website designer) and I are avid practitioners with any kind of weapon, and we have shot, and thrown every kind of interesting weapon available to us. Our favorites continue to be the bow, sword, and knife. We occasionally hold knife throwing and archery contests with our friends and practice with waster swords when we can find the time.
